The reason may be dust articles or some bacterial infection which subsides very soon by minimum treatment. When the infection is occurring constantly and left untreated it leads to certain difficult disorders.

Generally the common infection which occurs in the ear is called middle ear infection. Germs or bacteria when enter the ear cause infection accompanied with pain. When the infection begins to at the outer ear it is called swimmer’s ear. This might not prove dangerous unless and until the infection enters the middle ear. This is because the middle ear is the main passage for the sensory signals to pass through. The Eustachian canal is present in the middle ear. This canal is mainly responsible for maintaining the internal pressure inside the ear. When a person gets allergy or infected by cold the Eustachian tube gets blocked. This blockage causes the germs to grow in the middle ear and cause further infection.
Ear infection actually occurs due to unclean self habits and not from anyone. One can get cold from other person and this might cause infection. This is identified by consulting a doctor. When the doctor uses an otoscope and blows air into the ear, infection can be diagnosed. It is confirmed with the movement of the ear drum which moves in according to the air blown. The diagnosis for ear infection is performed by modern techniques such as audiogram (test for hearing) and tympanogram (a machine that checks the movement of ear drum).
